X, Exene, Motorcycle (her name on her bike, below her hand), April, 1980. Outside their home on Genesee, West Hollywood. John Doe and Exene (with Claude Kick Boy Bessy behind Exene), English Pub, June, 1980. Back: Exene, Whisky, May 1980. Religious pamphlets on Exene and John Doe’s bedroom door.

After two blistering hot sets, I accompanied them back to their home. Penelope Spheeris interviewed them for Decline of Western Civilization. I could only take photos when she was not filming.

I was struck by this door. Plus their mantle. Had to take photos! I saw so many influences/reflections of their songs and songbooks on their walls and mantle. Like my home.

Some insist less is more. Big fad for decluttering homes. I can’t live without my art and cultural influences everywhere. We punks decorated our walls, our bodies, our world.
